Stay at resort-like Port Everglades hotels near the terminals because the options are plentiful. We also find their customer service to be the best out of any hotels we stay at time and again. Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) is the closest airport to Port Everglades. It is only 2.7 miles away, and it's incredibly easy to get to the cruise terminals. This is the best airport to fly to and from for easy access to Port Everglades.
How to get to the port
This facility is used exclusively by Princess Cruises ships. Port Everglades has a limited number of wheelchairs onsite. Instead, contact your cruise line ahead of time to let them know if you'll need wheelchair assistance for embarkation. There's so much to see and do, and Visit Lauderdale is a great way to make your time here unforgettable.

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you can order your favorite egg dishes, pancakes, waffles, breakfast wraps and more. At dinnertime, they serve pork chops, country-fried steak, St. Louis ribs and fried chicken, among other hearty plates. While the 4,200-square-foot facility is designed to provide services to crewmembers, cruisers are also welcome. You can shop at the on-site convenience shop, access free Wi-Fi and visit the chapel. Metro Shuttle Service costs $8 to $15 per person for the ride from FLL to Port Everglades, depending on the number of people in your group. The more people on your reservation, the lower your per person rate.
Departing passengers (embarkation)
From concerts on the beach to arts festivals, warehouse jam sessions, and multicultural events – there is likely an event happening if you are staying in the city for a day or two pre/post-cruise. Water Taxi – The system of waterways provide a unique way of getting around and seeing the sights. You can hop on and off boats all day to visit 12 points of interest in Fort Lauderdale and three more in Hollywood. The tickets are a bit pricey but you may see some savings with their “Cruise & Save” discounts at various restaurants, museums, and shops along their route.
All of these restaurants are within a 20-minute drive from the port. These hotels are also less than 10 minutes from the port but are a great value -- on both points and in cash -- most nights of the year. Be sure to price out both the cash and points price to find the best value. During certain times of the year, the cash prices are so low, it simply doesn't make sense to spend your hard-earned points. The average one-way metered taxi fare from FLL to Port Everglades is between $15 and $17. The fee jumps to $75 if you're taking a taxi from MIA and it's $130 to $160 for a taxi ride from PBI, which is about an hour from the port.

Cruise Line TransfersCruise lines offer transfer service from the Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports to the cruise terminals. Fort Lauderdale has a big advantage over many other cruise ports in that it’s literally just a few minutes from the airport. If you are flying from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, you can get from the cruise port to the airport in 10 minutes. If you are flying from Miami, however, expect the ride to take at least 45 minutes, and upwards of an hour in heavy traffic. They offer service in both Miami or Fort Lauderdale (including airports), so no matter where you are, you can get a ride. We’ve estimated the cost of a ride from certain points of interest below.
If departing Miami, then we’d suggest noon at the very earliest. Would be ideal to give you enough time to get off the ship, get to the airport, and get through security. Only a 15-minute drive from the beach and ten minutes from the cruise port, this well-connected area is also convenient for exploring the city. The drive from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale is usually two-and-a-half to three hours, depending on traffic and how often you stop. By Broward County law (the county where Fort Lauderdale is), cab fares are regulated by the government.
One of oddest things you’ll notice on your cruise is that everyone can’t wait to board the ship when you depart, but are just as eager to get off the ship when it gets back home. If you are assigned a check-in time, then you should aim to arrive at that time. If you’re a cruise passenger, it doesn’t get any easier than letting someone else worry about the driving and simply being dropped off or picked up after your cruise.
